Search for “hire Anthropic engineers” and you will get agencies offering people who have called the Claude API. That is a real market. It is not this one.

To hire former Anthropic engineers is to hire the people who left the lab: Member of Technical Staff, research, interpretability, applied engineering, infra, GTM. The usual boards are a poor fit for that search. They are noisy, generic, and priced for a different kind of candidate.

Public reports put Anthropic applied engineering total comp in the mid-to-high six figures. Research and named safety roles sit higher. If you cannot match that, write the real band on the listing. People who just left a lab can smell a vague “competitive” line from across the hallway.

How to pitch

Scope, not a bidding war.

Comp-only outreach underperforms. The pitches that land name a problem they cannot own inside Anthropic — a product line, a deployment, a safety constraint a startup will actually ship. Internal counters are generous and slow. A clear offer with a real deadline still closes.

What they actually bring

Not a generic “AI engineer.” Interpretability and alignment people bring evaluation habits that slow a reckless ship, on purpose. Applied Claude engineers have run product under real load. Enterprise sellers from that org are used to trust-and-safety buyers, not a consumer growth loop.

If you want someone who will call an LLM from a CRUD app, hire that somewhere else. If you want someone who has already been in the building, post here.
